Editorial method
We separate evidence, interpretation, and publication so readers can understand what our confidence is based on and when a claim may need another check.
1. Define the question and scope
We begin with the decision a traveler is trying to make. Place profiles focus on lived experience and trade-offs; guide pages focus on a specific action, audience, and point in the journey.
2. Evidence and permission
We keep available source material in an evidence system that records provenance, verification state, freshness, and whether the material is permitted for public use. Material marked for internal use is not redistributed as public content.
We do not display a citation badge beside every public field. For policy-sensitive guides, we link to official sources when they are available and useful to the reader.
3. Drafting and synthesis
Structured data and evidence are assembled into a readable explanation. English and Chinese editorial layers are generated independently for their audiences rather than translated sentence by sentence. Our AI use page explains where automation helps and where it stops.
4. Human review and publication
AI and automated collectors may prepare drafts or suggestions, but they cannot publish directly. Publishing is an action taken through an authenticated administrator account. We are still strengthening separate reviewer assignment and immutable guide-specific version history, so the accountable party shown today is the editorial team rather than an individual reviewer.
5. Freshness and re-checking
Last verified is the date attached to a real verification record, not the deployment date. Policy-sensitive guide topics are treated as critical: after 30 days, the page warns that the information may be outdated and asks readers to check the official source.
If no verification date exists, we say so instead of inventing one. Changing a guide topic updates its modification timestamp; its Last verified date changes only when an editor records a real re-check. Place pages retain published revisions, while immutable guide-specific version history is still being completed.
6. Corrections
Readers can report an error. Administrative content updates are recorded in our internal audit log; confirmed issues can be corrected, qualified, or withdrawn by an administrator.
